The most common treatments in dentistry!
„Root resection (apicoectomy)
Removing of benign pathology (cystectomy)
Bone grafting“
In certain cases, dental treatments include surgical procedures in oral cavity. These procedures do not take long and are painless since they are performed under local anesthesia.
WHAT IS APICOECTOMY?
Apicoectomy stands for a surgical procedure in oral surgery that involves the removal of the tip of the tooth’s root, along with the infected tissues around it.
This type of treatments is used in oral surgery when every other conservative method has had little or no success. The inflammation around the root happens when the tooth has not been cured properly or it was fractured.
Apicoectomy basically saves the tooth from being extracted and it takes no longer than 30 to 60 minutes to preform it. Like any other surgical treatment, apicoectomy is done under local anesthesia and it’s completely painless.
Oral surgery is a common name for all the surgical procedures that are done in modern dentistry.
WHAT IS CYSTECTOMY?
This oral surgical procedure describes the process of removing abscesses, granuloma, cysts and other periapical lesions present in the oral cavity.
Sometimes, pain or swelling can occur, but some patients don’t feel any pain, and they don’t know about these problems until they do an X-Ray and the dentist spots it. After the diagnosis and depending on the situation, your dentists will recommend the ideal solution for your problems and give you a therapy plan. Again, the whole treatment is done under local anesthesia and is painless.
The existence of a cyst (a formation in the jaw or on the tip of the root) is detected with an X-ray. Again, the whole treatment is done under local anesthesia and is painless.
At Dentech, these kinds of treatments are performed on daily basis so there is nothing you should worry about. Contact us with confidence and book your free consultation!
FRENULECTOMY
Frenulum is a small wrinkled formation in the oral cavity. Its primary function is to prevent extensive movement of lips or tongue, but in cases when it is too thick, it can cause difficulties such as spaced incisors or speech problems.
Frenulectomy is then necessary. It is a surgical procedure with which short or thick frenulum is liberated. Frenulectomy can be lingual – removal of the frenulum under tongue or labial – removal of the frenulum under the lip.
There are two methods – surgical and laser method, and both are painless since they are done under local anesthesia. Post-operative period includes optimal oral hygiene because plaque can cause infections and slow down the healing process.
As always, adequate oral hygiene is extremely important because plaque can increase the risk of infections.
CORTICOTOMY
This kind of treatment is used for teeth who have not properly grown in a natural way and are only visible on an X-ray.
It is a surgical extraction of impacted or retained canines or molars, and it is usually combined with orthodontic therapy to quicken it.
This procedure is painless since it is done under local anesthesia. It is performed by both oral surgeon and orthodontist. Corticotomy enables the extraction of impacted tooth to its regular position in the tooth arch.
